Driving while distracted
Just a thought that I would like to share. Many states are now passing laws that say a person cannot legally text while driving. Just for the record I agree with that. It is very dangerous for a person to take their mind off driving to send or read a text message.
However, I want to share that I also believe that it should be just as illegal to do the following things and drive.
Eating a happy meal or other food order
Smoking a cigarette
Talking on the cell phone – hands on or hands free
Listening to loud music
While holding a dog in your lap
While reading a newspaper
While I have been guilty of some but not all of these (Never read the paper that I remember while driving) all of these things are distracting and can and have caused accidents. Why are there no laws against such things?
