Did someone say Baby Skunks Cannot Spray? Better Count Your Blessings…

We were on a mission trip recently and happened upon a nest of skunks. We were assured by several people that baby skunks cannot spray. Guess again or just “Google” it. I investigated further when my father-in-law shared with me yesterday that as a child he was sprayed by a baby skunk.

Skunks have their scent gland from the day they are born, and can spray when they are only 8 days old. Skunks will warn you when they are about to spray. First they face you with their tail in the air, then they stamp their front feet before turning their behind toward you and spraying.
