The Only Evangelism That Works: Be An Imagebearer

Social Media and Cheating

Everywhere I look these days I am reading articles about how Facebook, twitter, and other social media sites are making it easier to cheat and ruining relationships. I will admit that social media gives us access to people we would not otherwise be able to communicate with so easily. I will also admit that a person can become addicted to being online and communicating.

However, I have always told my oldest son and others, if a person will cheat with you, they will cheat on you. Why is it when a couple cheat on their spouses and get married and one of them end up cheating again, why is it they are so surprised??? Duh… But this is beside the point.

It is a sad day when we can’t be trusted to stay true to the one we are committed to in any situation, be it online, in a restaurant, in the library, or at college. It really doesn’t matter if a person can be trusted then they are trustworthy and if they are not trustworthy, don’t get involved with them.

I think this goes back to the world finding a scapegoat. We always want to blame someone or something for our wrong. Remember Adam and his blaming God for the Woman that He gave to him???

If someone is looking to cheat, they will cheat. If someone is caught off guard and they are determined to be true, they will not give into the temptation, no matter where they may be and remember Jesus said we can even cheat in our thoughts. If we allow ourselves to be taken captive with wrong thoughts, yes we can cheat in our minds and Jesus said it is just as real or just as wrong as the actual act. Check out Matthew Chapter 5 and lets talk.

No Social Media is not to blame for broken relationships, we are.
