The Only Evangelism That Works: Be An Imagebearer

Got Faith?

This is the title of the Message for Out Of The Box Youth this week. I am pretty excited to talk to a bunch of sr. high teens about their faith in the God of the Universe. Sometimes we forget that we were created and blessed with the breath of life and we just move along in our day-to-day busyness and never acknowledge the One who made it all possible.

Everyone has faith – they may not realize it but everyone does have faith in something or someone. Some place their faith in God, others in science. Some place their faith in money and still others give money because they have faith. What kinds of faith do you have?

I have faith that God is going to one day receive me into heaven where I will spend eternity with Him.

I have faith that my wife is going to love me and grow with me throughout the remainder of our lives.

I have faith that my vehicle it going to get me home this afternoon.

I have faith that I will be able to complete the 13.1 mile Half Marathon this Saturday in Mt. Airy NC.

What do you have faith in? Who do you trust? Why do you trust this person or thing?

Lets see what Hebrews 11 has to say about faith.

Hebrews 11: 1 NLT

1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before.

It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.

This is just a sampling of what Hebrews 11 says about those who had and have faith in God!

Question for you.

If you were to take a test that showed how seriously you live out your faith in Jesus Christ, what grade do you think you would receive?

A, B, C, D, or F ?

Many people talk about faith in terms of belief. It is a good thing to believe there is a God and that we should go to church and learn more about who He is and how to live based on this belief. However, the Bible says in James 2:19 that even the demons in hell believe in God and even tremble, but they are demons. Just believing in something isn’t the point. Believing in something or someone enough to actually base the way you live on that person and their teaching is true faith. Faith is a VERB! Faith without works is DEAD!

How has your faith in God changed and affected the way you live your life? If it hasn’t affected the way you live then you need to see if you really do have faith.
